2003. a girl was asked by her good friend to write love letters to a senior. both of them admired him but she decided to help. not long after, her good friend and the senior got together.
one day, she opened a box which unveils her mother's first love....

1968. a rich girl and a guy met in a village. it was love at first sight for both. they spent a lovely and fun day together. but she was forced back to seoul after that.
after the holidays, back in seoul, the guy's good friend asked him to help write love letters to a girl whom he was matchmaked. after knowing that she was the rich girl he met in the village, he helped reluctantly. subsequently, his friend brought him along to his dates with the rich girl. the girl then went dating with the guy. they shared happy moments together and they communicated a lot through letters. both of them knew this relationship could not be exposed as the families of both the girl and the guy's friend were very strict. not wanting to drag any further, the girl gave up. she wanted to leave both guys.however, it dragged. they could not give each other up and the guy went to confess to his friend who was good enough to step out of the triangle love. but his father found out soon and gave him a good thrashing with his leather belt. then, he attempted suicide which made the guy felt very guilty and left, hoping that the girl would be together with his friend.
war broke out. the guy was on a train which was heading to frontline. his friend brought the girl to the station. she cried so bitterly and heartbreakingly when she saw him and asked him to promise to come back alive.
an accident happened. the guy was injured by an explosion while trying to retrieve a necklace which he dropped. it was given by the girl.
after the war ended, the girl arranged to meet up with the guy. she heard that he was married.
and.... she did not know that he became blind until he gave himself away accidentally.
not long later, she and the guy's friend got married and had a girl. then, the guy died. his friends brought his urn to her. he hoped that the girl could throw his ashes in the river which both of them loved. he was not married, until the girl married to his friend.

back in 2003, the senior fell in love with the girl who was the original writer of the letters. but the girl did not know and tried to avoid him to minimise misunderstandings.
after an incident, the girl found out that the senior was actually fond of her. in fact, he had been dropping hints. they got together eventually.
the girl brought the senior to the village where her mother and her first love dated. she told him their love story. least that she knew, the senior took out the necklace that her mother gave to her first love. he was the guy's son. fate played its role. in one present which the senior intended to give the girl, he wrote a few lines which were identical to those written by his father in the letters he wrote to the rich girl.

it is such heartbreaking that in 1968, both people who were in love could not be together. thanks to destiny, who brought their next generation together in 2003. i seldom watch korean movies, i think i can count the number in one hand. but this is really a lovely drama. i think the director did a good job. the scenes were flashbacks between 1968 and 2003 but you will not get confused. and there were hints that the father of the girl in 2003 is the guy's good friend in 1968 and the senior is the guy's son. pretty nice movie. korea dramas and movies and known to be touching and drive tears down your cheeks. almost three-quarter of the movie, i only teared once, i was still wondering where is the most touching part and it came. when the girl received the guy's urn and the guy was so noble that he lied that he was married so that this girl would give him up and. oh gosh! the scene just melts my heart. i cried almost as bitterly as 孙艺珍 in the show. she is so pretty! not drop dead gorgeous kind, those innocent and sweet kind. her acting skills are good and moving! good~

holiday season, christmas season, end-of-the-year season, which make it the movies season of course. watched three movies this month.
the golden compass. lovely graphics. not a bad story line. i love the polar bears! could i have a demon too?
enchanted. fairy tale. nice songs. the girl could really sing well. well, we know fairy tales do not exist in modern days. i love the chipmunk! he could act so well.
alvin and the chipmunks. drop dead cute!!!! their acapella is so nice~ i love theodore, the fattest one but i think he is the cutest. if you think enchanted is funny, alvin and the chipmunks is definitely far more funnier. you just can't stop laughing! i want to have chipmunks as pets too!
warlords tomorrow. highly-anticipated movie. we shall see how is it. takeshi~ *^_^*
